My car has no spare tire - now what?

More and more cars ship without a spare, a lot of newer models and nearly every EV come with a sealant kit instead. If the puncture is small and the sidewall is intact, a plug or sealant may hold long enough to reach a shop. If the tire is shredded or the sidewall is gone, sealant won't work and an operator flatbeds you to the nearest tire shop. Tell us your year and model when you call and we'll bring the right plan.

Should I change a flat myself on the Kennedy or the Dan Ryan?

On an active expressway shoulder, no. Changing a tire on the traffic side of the vehicle is genuinely dangerous, and the Chicago expressway system carries some of the heaviest urban traffic in the country with very little usable shoulder in places. Stay in the vehicle with your seatbelt on and hazards flashing, and let the operator position their truck with warning lights as a buffer, or do a short tow to a safe lot first.

Can you fix the flat, or only swap the spare?

Roadside, we swap your spare on so you can drive safely, we don't do full tire repair on the shoulder. If the puncture is in the tread and the sidewall is intact, we can sometimes plug it well enough to reach a shop. A blown sidewall, a shredded tire, or wheel damage means a spare or a tow. We'll tell you honestly on scene which one you're looking at.

No. We're pay-per-call, no membership, no annual fee, no enrollment wait. You call, an operator comes, you pay for that call. If you have AAA and want to use it first, call them; they often dispatch us anyway. If you don't, skip the membership and call us direct.
