Heavy-Duty

Heavy-duty towing. 18-wheelers, box trucks, and commercial recovery.

Chicago runs on freight. The yards south of Joliet and the industrial park against O'Hare generate heavy commercial recovery, and I-80, I-55, I-90 and I-294 carry national truck traffic straight through the metro. Box trucks, rental moving trucks, step vans and 18-wheelers need a rotator or heavy-duty wrecker, not a light-duty rollback. Give GVWR, class and location when you call so we can match an operator who actually has that rig.

What do drivers ask about heavy-duty towing?

What counts as heavy-duty towing?

Anything over roughly 10,000 lb GVWR - 18-wheelers, box trucks, delivery vans with cube bodies, step vans, shuttles, buses, RVs, dump trucks, and medium-duty commercial vehicles. If you're not sure whether your vehicle qualifies, tell us the make and model when you call. We'll tell you whether a light-duty flatbed or a heavy wrecker is needed.

How much does heavy-duty towing cost in Chicago?

Heavy-duty jobs are quoted once we know the vehicle type and job complexity. Complex scenes with winch-outs, underreach recovery, or accident staging are quoted before work starts. You get the number before the operator begins. Same-day invoices aren't guaranteed.

Do you handle 18-wheelers stuck on I-80 or at an intermodal gate?

I-80 and I-55 meet near Channahon just west of Joliet, at the largest inland port in North America. The truck volume through that junction is why heavy recovery is a common local job. The assigned operator confirms whether they have a Class 7 or 8 wrecker for that call around the yards south of Joliet.

Can you tow a Penske or U-Haul moving truck?

Rental moving trucks (16-, 20-, 26-foot) usually need a heavy-duty truck rather than a light-duty rollback. Call the rental company first; some contracts include roadside coverage. If they won't cover it, we can line up a direct pickup, quoted before dispatch. We can't promise the rental company will pay.

Do you work with freight and logistics fleets on contract?

We can take a fleet or logistics call the same way we take a one-off job: quoted before dispatch. There is no published monthly contract, priority-response list, or fleet-account rate on this site.
