Wheel-lift towing. Tight spaces. Fast turnarounds.
When you need to pull a standard sedan out of a narrow Berwyn side street or a packed Metra station lot, a wheel-lift truck is the right tool. Smaller footprint than a flatbed, faster hook-up, and zero damage on properly-equipped vehicles. We run modern hydraulic wheel lifts rated for sedans, trucks, and most SUVs up to 7,500 pounds.
What's included in wheel-lift towing?
- Hydraulic wheel-lift on compact tow trucks
- Front-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive vehicles rated
- Bungalow side streets, alley positions, and tight apartment-lot access
- Quick hook-ups (under 5 minutes on most vehicles)
- Short-distance transport to body shop, dealer, or home
- Jump-start-and-tow combos when battery is dead but vehicle cannot idle
- Repossession and court-ordered transport (with paperwork)
- Secondary backup when flatbed is oversized for the space
When do you need wheel-lift towing?
- Your vehicle is a standard FWD or RWD sedan (not AWD, not EV)
- You are parked on a narrow Chicago side street or in a tight lot
- You need a fast, short-distance move to a shop

- Sedan cannot roll because of transmission or brake lock
- Tight lot where a full-size flatbed cannot maneuver
What do drivers ask about wheel-lift towing?
What is wheel-lift towing?
A wheel-lift truck has a metal yoke that slides under the drive wheels and lifts only that end of your vehicle off the ground, the other end rolls on its own wheels. It is faster than a flatbed and fits into tight streets and lots where a flatbed cannot.
Is wheel-lift safe for my car?
For standard FWD or RWD sedans, yes. For AWD, 4WD, or any EV, absolutely not, call for a flatbed. The spinning driveshaft or dragging drive motors will cause expensive internal damage on any vehicle with all four wheels driven or motored. If you're unsure, we'll tell you honestly.
Can you fit onto a narrow Berwyn or bungalow-belt street?
Usually yes. Our wheel-lift trucks are built for narrow streets, short alleys and tight courtyard entrances, the kind that fill Berwyn, Cicero and the Northwest Side bungalow belt. Text a photo of the street or entrance when you call and we will confirm access before dispatch. A few of the tightest blocks require working from the nearest cross street, and we can arrange that.
How much does wheel-lift towing cost?
Wheel-lift tows are quoted before dispatch, based on distance. Short moves of a few miles usually sit at the low end of the range across the Chicago metro. You get the full number before we dispatch.
Will you jump start and then tow if the car will not run?
Yes. Many batteries are just drained, a quick jump is sometimes all you need, no tow required. If the alternator is bad or the engine won't hold a charge, we'll jump it to move it to the truck and still tow. Either way, the tow covers both labor.
